Tbilisi –Cave of Prometheus– Martvili Canyon–Kutaisi – Tbilisi
Our tour will start at 07:00 am in Tbilisi. Our guide and driver will meet you at the appointed place and time.
you will admire the bizarre stalactites and stalagmites. And also, if desired, take a boat ride along the underground river, looking at the surrounding surreal landscapes. I will tell you how this amazing place was formed and what legends are associated with it.
We will go to the Martvil Canyon, which is famous not only for its beauty, but also of historical value. Archaeologists have found here traces of the habitation of primitive man, prehistoric animals that lived on earth 73 million years ago, and fossilized skeletons of dinosaurs. The canyon is located among rocks and has a length of 2.5 kilometers. The canyon is narrow enough that we will go on an excursion by water to see it better. The entire journey by boat will take approximately 20 minutes. You’ll admire the stepped waterfall and rocks that hang right above the canyon.
I will show the unusually beautiful cascading composition of the Colchis fountain in the center of Kutaisi and talk about its gilded figurines, reflecting the jewelry art of the Bronze Age.
In addition, you will hear the love story of a German prince for a Georgian princess and see the castle he built. Next, you will walk through the streets of the Jewish quarter, once the largest in Georgia, look at the functioning ancient synagogue and feel the spicy aromas wafting from the windows. You will also find out why the temple crowning this ancient quarter is called the “Green Flower”.
